Ikawa n’Inka project, Rwanda.
In 2017, in partnership we launched our 3 year Ikawa N’Inka (‘Coffee & Cows’) project in Nyaruguru district, Rwanda to support over 30,000 smallholder coffee farmers. We have been able to expand the reach of the project across Nyanza and Bugesera districts, to empower people in these coffee growing communities with the knowledge and skills to live healthily and sustainably from the land.
This project will work with these communities to help them identify and value the resources they already have: their land, their communities, and their own capacities. Send a Cow will provide vital training in farming, gender and social development, enterprise and health and hygiene to bring increased farm production, improved sanitation and opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. Alongside this package of training and support, families will also receive resources such as seeds and cows.
Thanks to your support, farmers in one of Rwanda’s poorest regions will be able to feed their families and escape poverty for good.
