In 1988 a group of UK dairy farmers sent 32 of their cows to help struggling families in the Mityana district of Uganda. It was the beginning of Send a Cow as we know it.
To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we returned to Mityana to find some of the families who received a cow in those first few years. After all this time, we didn't know what to expect. Could Send a Cow really be making a difference 40 years on?
The answer is yes, and powerfully so! Below you will see photos and quotes from some of the families we went to visit. We created photo books using the images and were delighted to be able to present them to the farmers - and as you can see, they look delighted too!
