We are delighted to welcome gardener and broadcaster Toby Buckland as a new Patron for Send a Cow!

Toby is a lifelong gardener, author and award winning broadcaster. He is part of the BBC presenting team for RHS Chelsea Flower show and is also known for his time presenting BBC's Gardners' World. He has been a supporter of Send a Cow since being introduced to us at Gardeners World Live in 2009 where we were displaying a keyhole garden. Toby said,

I remember the first time I heard about Send a Cow. I was so impressed with their gardening techniques which are so simple but also very effective, enabling African farmers to make the most of their small plots of land.

As a gardener myself, I love the fact Send a Cow offers practical support and knowledge, showing people techniques like composting, mulching and water conservation that they can use on their farms and pass on to their neighbours and friends. I'm delighted to become a patron so that I can do even more to help them raise awareness of their work.

As part of his first duties as patron, Toby will be flying out to Kenya to meet frontline staff and farmers who are currently working with Send a Cow.

I'm really looking forward to seeing their work firsthand and to meet individuals and families who are putting Send a Cow techniques into practice. As a qualified horticulturalist I am hoping to learn a thing or two and to share some of my knowledge and experience. I've never been to Kenya before so I am sure it'll be a memorable experience will will help in my new role as patron.

We are thrilled to have Toby on board!
