Send a Cow supporters XLVets have come up with a challenging way to celebrate the groups 10th anniversary. Together they are going to travel 23,605.63 miles which is the exact distance between all their practices in England, Ireland and New Zealand.

The good news is not everyone is doing every mile. By cannily carving up the route between the 52 practices they have worked out that each team only needs to travel 453.95 miles. And they have the option of covering the distance by any means they like from running, walking, cycling and swimming to even riding their sometimes patients - horses!

it was a great opportunity to engage with the people we met and talk to them about the work that the charity undertakes

Kick-starting the epic fundraising challenge with an 800 mile, two-day cycle ride to Liverpool were XLVets Directors Nick Eames, Andy Adler and David Black and XLVets Chief Executive Andrew Curwen. Setting off from assorted locations, the gruelling journey provided the team with an added bonus – sharing Send a Cow’s story. Andrew said: “By riding across Britain, it was a great opportunity to engage with the people we met and talk to them about the work that the charity undertakes.”

Sophie Porfirio, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Send a Cow says “I would like to congratulate Nick, Andy, David and Andrew on their incredible achievement cycling up to Liverpool – that is some mileage! We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible enthusiasm from staff across XLVets practices in taking on the challenge and the support they have shown for Send a Cow. We look forward to finding out the final result of miles completed in September!”
